The Choir

St. Mary’s choir is affiliated to the Royal Schools of Church Music. If you enjoy singing and you are at least 7 years old (there is no upper age limit), we would love to have you join us. We are always keen to welcome new adult members – particularly Sopranos.  If you feel you cannot commit to joining us regularly we do welcome people to join us for special services and festivals as long as they attend several rehearsals beforehand. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t a wonderful voice it will improve with practice. You don’t need to be able to read music. Much of what we sing can be learnt by listening carefully. Gradually you will find that you can read music.

Choir Practice

Almeley Church Choir practices are held most Friday evenings from 6.30pm – 7.30pm in Almeley Church.

If you are interested come along and try it for a few weeks before making a decision to join us

Church Services are held every week, so every week we practise to enhance the worship in church. Most choir members try to come to as many services as they can. However we do like as many choir as possible on Good Friday, Easter Day, Harvest, Carol Service and Christmas Day.

Children attend 2 services a month, which includes Family Services and special festivals.

Hereford RSCM Diocesan Festival
Every year recently we have had several members who have attended rehearsals and the Festival in the Cathedral.   They have all been thrilled with the event.  The Festival is held on the first Saturday of October each year.

We also try to attend RSCM workshops when appropriate.

Weddings
The choir is available to sing at your special day – please discuss your requirements with Di Brain.

For further details about the choir  please contact Di Brain on 01544 327 396

Currently we have about 12 adult singers but would welcome younger members.

The Choristers’ prayer

Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants, who minister in Thy temple.
Grant that what we sing with our lips, we may believe in our hearts,
and what we believe in our hearts, we may show forth in our lives.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
