‘The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are inviting churches to pray for the evangelisation of the nation during the week before Pentecost Sunday.
The Archbishops have written to every serving parish priest in the Church of England expressing their longing “to see a great wave of prayer across our land, throughout the Church of England and many other Churches” from 8-15 May.
The week of prayer will culminate in ‘Beacon events’ around the country over Pentecost weekend, where people will pray for the renewal of the Holy Spirit and the confidence to share their faith’.
It’s nice to know that where the Eardisley Group has led, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York are following.
Since 2014 we have kept the days between Ascension Day and the Feast of Pentecost (Whitsun) as 9 days of prayer (a novena) in preparation for our celebration of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the Feast of Pentecost.
I will say no more except to invite you to join us during these days of prayer for midday prayers, culminating in our Group Service at Winforton on Sunday 15 May at 10am.
All are welcome.
