St. Mary’s Church, Almeley
The younger members also have fun after choir practices most weeks until 8.00pm, playing games, preparing for Family Services and working in groups towards our Voice for Life awards. This is a scheme to aid musical knowledge, singing and learning about the choir's place in worship.
Every year recently we have had several members who have attended rehearsals and the Festival in the Cathedral. They have all been thrilled with the event. The Festival is held on the first Saturday of October each year.
We also try to attend RSCM workshops when appropriate.
Singing is not the only thing we do. We have an Easter egg hunt, we go Carol Singing, we play rounders on the Common, we have barbecues, but whatever we do we seem to make a lot of noise and eat a lot! (the more vigorous activities are not compulsory for the adults!)
It doesn't matter if you haven't a wonderful voice it will improve with practice. You don't need to be able to read music. Much of what we sing can be learnt by listening carefully. Gradually you will find that you can read music.
Almeley Church Choir practices are held most Friday evenings from 6.30pm - 7.30pm in Almeley Church.
If you are interested come along and try it for a few weeks before making a decision to join us
Church Services are held every week at 11.00 am. Every week we practise to enhance the worship in church. Most choir members try to come to as many services as they can. However we do like as many choir as possible on Good Friday, Easter Day, Harvest, Carol Service and Christmas Day.

Choristers’ Prayer: at the end of choir practice, and at the end of some services, we say together the Choristers’ Prayer, the words of which which can be found here.
